Sender ID registration requirements
Beginning July 1, 2026, alpha senders that are not registered will be classified as Unverified. For assistance with sender ID registration, please reach out to Sales or Support. After submitting the required information, the support team will provide you with a QR code and a link for clients to upload their ID for verification. This ID will be retained for two years in accordance with ACMA regulations.
Please provide the following to the support team:
- Authorised Business Representative details. This person must have the authority/right to sign on behalf of the company.
- Business certificate. We need it to confirm that business is oficially registered with the governing body or regulatory authority.
- Trademark certificate or official register for usage of sender ID.
A valid sender ID must:
- Be between 2 and 11 characters long.
- Include only characters from the ASCII decimal codes 32–126.
- Not consist solely of restricted words listed on the ACMA’s website. Examples of restricted words include “verify”, “notice”, “important”, “banking”, “alert”, or any terms that may imply impersonation of trusted entities. You can find the complete list of words here.
- Include letters, numbers, and symbols (standard ASCII), but cannot consist solely of numbers.
- Not have a space or underscore at the beginning or end.
- Not include the word ‘Unverified’.
- Be clearly associated with your organisation. This ensures that consumers can easily identify the source of the message, reducing the risk of confusion or impersonation. A sender ID is considered valid if it:
- matches your organisation’s name or a shortened version (e.g., ’Australian Taxation Office‘ → ’ATO’)
- is an acronym, contraction, abbreviation, or initialism of your name (e.g., ‘Australian Communications and Media Authority‘ → ’ACMA’)
- includes additional words that relate to your organisation’s function, location, or the purpose of the message (e.g., ‘ACMA Alerts’).
Starting July 1, 2026, unregistered alpha senders will be designated as "Unverified."
Additional information for partners and resellers
Partners and resellers must ensure that their customers are aware that the end customer, as the actual sender of the message, is responsible for the use, accuracy, and registration of the Sender ID. This includes ensuring that all required registrations, approvals, and supporting documentation are completed in accordance with applicable local requirements before traffic is sent.
LINK Mobility does not register Sender IDs on behalf of partners’ or resellers’ customers, unless otherwise agreed. LINK Mobility may provide support to partners and end customers throughout the registration process. Responsibility for providing correct information, obtaining any required approvals, and complying with mandatory Sender ID registration processes remains with the end customer. Partners and resellers should inform their customers of these obligations before sending traffic to destinations where Sender ID registration is mandatory.
